Michael began building guitars in 1994 during
his graduate studies in Forestry at Colorado State University. While subsequently
teaching tropical forestry in Belize, Central America, he took the opportunity
to hand select unique woods which are often featured in my guitars. In
1998 he opened my shop in Fort Collins, Colorado, building guitars full-time.
At other times in life he was a soil scientist for the U.S. Forest Service,
a research assistant at Duke University studying global warming, and a
commercial photography assistant in New York City.
Michael says, "I have always enjoyed
studying our environment and recreating in the beautiful Rocky mountains.
In 1992 I spent five months hiking the Continental Divide Trail from Mexico
to Canada. My wife and I enjoy living and skiing in Colorado with our
daughters Zoe and Riley."
His guitars are made from the finest materials using a combination of traditional
and modern methods, to create instruments of exemplary beauty, tone, and
playability. The aesthetics of Bashkin guitars are inspired by the natural
beauty of wood and balanced, simple organic lines.
All of his guitar models
are designed and built to have the right combination of a note’s
fundamental and its overtones to create a responsive, balanced and
powerful guitar that is comfortable to play. Every model can be
customized to the player's preferences, by varying the scale length, neck
profile, body depth, woods etc. Bashkin guitars are meant to uniquely
fit you and be a joy to play for a lifetime. Website: http://www.bashkinguitars.com |
